ATTEMPTS are underway to send military veterans to special “care” units instead of prison if they commit a criminal offence. The key figure behind the controversial move is the SNPs Angela Constance, who represents Livingston at Holyrood. On Friday, she held a high-profile summit at the Scottish Parliament with criminal justice agencies and veterans charities to test support for her proposal, which would see a secure care unit established for traumatised war veterans as an alternative to custody. The MSP believes there is a “moral responsibility” to support veterans both during military operations and when they return home, even if they find themselves on the wrong side of the criminal justice system. Tom Fox, Scottish Prison Service (SPS) spokesman, confirmed that prisoners were not routinely asked if they were in the armed forces. The SPS has estimated that it has 121 veterans in Scottish prisons. Critics, including Mrs Constance, say the SPS figures are an “under- representation”.
HEALTH Secretary Nicola Sturgeon has been criticised by a powerful trade union over her call to scrap lavish bonuses for doctors. The British Medical Association said that ending the distinction awards scheme for consultants would damage the NHS. However, the BMAs comments have been undermined by the Health Minister in the Welsh Assembly backing the Scottish Governments position. The row comes amid increasing public scrutiny of an awards system that provides year-on-year income top-ups to hospital doctors who can already earn around pound(s)100,000.

San West President and CEO Frank Drechsler commented, “We remain focused on enhancing the user experience for our customers in an ongoing effort to bolster our position as the one-stop destination for all things related to the off-road vehicle (ORV) market. CountyImports.com is the second-largest ORV dealer online and we expect to become no. 1 with regard to natural web traffic in the very near future. Our goal is to provide robust content, a personalized shopping experience, and a full featured website so we can secure additional market share and grow online sales.”
Mr. Drecshler added, “The website already attracts roughly 60,000 visitors per month and gains $10 in sales for every $0.75 spent on advertising. We expect web traffic to more than triple by this Summer and are already experiencing a substantial improvement to advertising efficiency as a direct result of our ongoing web development project and paid advertising overhaul. The impact of both strategic maneuvers has exceeded our lofty initial expectations and I look forward to updating the public about future improvements made to our online business.”

Chartwell Seniors Housing Real Estate Investment Trust (TSX: CSH.UN) announced today results for the three months and year ended December 31, 2009.
2009 HIGHLIGHTS:
Same property net operating income (”NOI”) decreased $0.3 million or 0.7% for the quarter ended December 31, 2009 compared to the same period last year. For the year ended December 31, 2009 same property NOI decreased $0.9 million or 0.5% compared to last year. The implementation of rent increases on renewal and turnover, increased ancillary revenues, and targeted cost reductions partially offset the negative impact of reduced occupancies, property and commodity tax increases, and a one-time increase in vacation and benefit cost estimates compared to the prior year. Same property occupancy was 91.8% in the fourth quarter of 2009, up 0.5 percentage points from the previous quarter of 2009 but down from 93.1% in last years fourth quarter. For the year ended December 31, 2009 same property occupancy was 91.6% compared to 93.3% in the prior year.
In the Canadian Retirement portfolio same property NOI decreased $1.0 million or 4.3% for the quarter ended December 31, 2009 compared to the same period last year. For the year ended December 31, 2009 same property NOI decreased $1.8 million or 1.8% compared to last year. The NOI declines are primarily attributable to lower occupancies, particularly in the British Columbia portfolio, as well as one-time increases in estimated liabilities for employee vacation and benefits recorded in the fourth quarter of 2009. Same property occupancies in Ontario were healthy at 93.1% in the fourth quarter of 2009, up from 92.1% in the third quarter of the year and lower than 94.1% in the fourth quarter of last year. Customer traffic and expected future arrivals maintained positive trends and management is optimistic that this improvement will translate into continued increases in occupancies in 2010. In addition, the spillover effect from significant waiting lists for long-term care beds in the province should continue supporting the increased demand for retirement suites. Performance in the Quebec portfolio continues to show steady growth with same property average occupancy improving to 88.6% in the fourth quarter of 2009, up from 87.8% in the third quarter of 2009 and from 85.5% in the fourth quarter of last year. In Western Canada, while Alberta occupancies remained strong, continued oversupply conditions in two British Columbia markets, combined with reduced occupancies at one long-term care community, resulted in same property occupancies declining to 90.3% in the fourth quarter of 2009 from 91.0% in the third quarter of 2009 and 95.0% in the fourth quarter of the prior year.
HIS face has landed on every doormat. Along the old cobbled streets, on the smart new estates, in the cottages lying miles out of town, they have grown to recognise the smoothly groomed features of Andrew Stephenson, one of the would-be Tory MPs being backed by Ashcroft money. Mr Stephenson is favourite to win the seat of Pendle, where Labour has a slender majority of 2,180. It would be a handsome victory. fuelled by an estimated pounds 250,000 of battle funds from Lord Ashcroft. Ashcroft money is paying for a bombardment of Tory propaganda that began in 2007, as soon as Mr Stephenson, 29, an insurance broker from an affluent Manchester suburb, was adopted as candidate. Since then, every few weeks, each one of the 37,000 addresses in the constituency has been mailed with party literature at enormous cost.

EDUCATION chief Batt OKeeffe has reversed a decision by former minister Mary Hanafin to remove the work of pervert poet Cathal O Searcaigh from the Leaving Cert curriculum. Two years ago, she told the Dail she would look to scrap O Searcaighs poetry, following the revelation that he had slept with young boys in Nepal. O Searcaigh, who adopted a Nepalese boy, Prem Timalsina as his own son, claimed to run an educational charity there. But documentary maker Neasa Ni Cheanain was shocked to discover he was sleeping with boys as young as 16 that he was claiming to help. In two weeks, schools will get a letter from his department with a list of prescribed texts for the 2012 Leaving Cert. But the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment has agreed, after public protests from parents and teachers, to allow schools to choose to avoid his work.
ATTEMPTING to cut the SNP out of the leaders debates which will be a central focus of the forthcoming General Election is more that just unbalanced treatment of a political party, it is fundamentally unfair to the people of Scotland. By definition these debates, which will take place in three English cities in front of local audiences, are incapable of reflecting what is happening north of the Border. Indeed, there are rules in place to ensure that the different politics in Wales and Scotland are reflected but the BBC and ITV, the two broadcasters with public service responsibilities, stitched up a deal with the London parties months ago. Ironically, only Sky, which is under no such obligation, has made efforts to ensure balance. The SNP does not want to prevent these debates from happening – we want to participate in them – but if they go ahead as currently proposed, the views and interests of the people of Scotland will be marginalised. Scottish voters know this too. Sixty per cent of those polled are opposed to the exclusion of the SNP from these election debates – yet the broadcasters and other parties have simply ignored their opinion.

Mr. Larry Reaugh, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Molycor Gold Corp. (TSX VENTURE: MOR)(PINK SHEETS: MLYFF)(FRANKFURT: M1V) (”Molycor” or the “Company”) is pleased to announce the Company has signed a contract with Hazen Research Inc. (”Hazen”) for Hazen to start work (Phase 1) on the process development study for exploitation of the Tami Mosi project in Nevada.
Hazen will research technical literature of existing processes for extraction and recovery of magnesium from dolomite: this information to be evaluated for potential application to Molycors resource at Tami Mosi. In conjunction with the literature study and review, Hazen will evaluate representative samples from selected areas of the property. This will involve physical, chemical, mineralogical tests and calcining work. Continuing work in Phase 2 will be based on the findings from the initial work. Phase 1 work commenced in February.
Hazen Research Inc. was formed in 1961 to provide process research and development services to the extractive metallurgy and chemical industries. Continuing changes to industrial processes and higher environmental standards resulted in Hazens expansion to be able to include these aspects of technology as part of their services. Located at Golden, Colorado, Hazen has approximately 120 employees and an enviable reputation for high quality work.
Tami Mosi, a large dolomite occurrence in the Schell Creek Range of White Pine County is a magnesium prospect of 119 unpatented mining claims within an area of 2700 acres and is 100% owned by Molycor.
In July, 2009 N. Tribe Associates Ltd. completed an updated NI-43-101 compliant property evaluation report which includes the updated resource estimate of magnesium contained in 236,183,772 tonnes of inferred resource at a grade of 10% Mg. Tami Mosi is estimated to contain 51.7 billion lbs of magnesium. Details of this estimate were issued in a Company press release dated July 7, 2009 which is accessible at Molycors website.
Less than 12% of our authors have ever taken a creative writing course. This means that all but a few have to get by on their writing, or fit their work around job and family. No violins needed – publishing is a commercial business. Most authors live in the real world, not some grant-funded ivory tower. As for genteel poverty, two-thirds of our members earn less than pound(s)20,000 a year from writing – considerably less than the national average salary. Almost half earn less than the minimum wage. The Authors Licensing and Collecting Society paints an even grimmer picture – the average author income from their work is around pound(s)14,000. While few could match Hugh MacDiarmids poetic mastery, authors understand all too well what being strapped for cash is all about. The Literature Working Group seems out of touch. If Ms Goring really wants to help the lot of authors in Scotland, she might start by not “profiling” them in such a nonsensical way.

Premium Rate SMS services have developed into a $200 million market.
However this is a far cry from the predictions made in the late 1990s,
which anticipated a multibillion-dollar market. Despite a decade of
mobile data hype the access charges to PSMS remain far too high and in
2009 the market started to contract. With the advent of capped mobile
services and new smart phones such as the iPhone, we now see users
moving to the Internet to access a far wider variety of Apps based
mobile content and communication services. In the PSMS market the mobile
operators maintain an iron grip on this market through their m-payment
facilities. The high costs limits the market to the more lucrative areas
of gaming, adult services, horoscopes, etc. Subscription-based services
were introduced to address the bill shock problems produced by these
high charges but in some cases this has only made matters worse. Only
those with high margins to spare can participate in this market.
International entrants have increased their market share to above the
50%. This report covers: Sybase 365, Netsize Group, mBlox, Jumbuck
Entertainment, iTouch, Mobile Messenger, 5th Finger, SMS Central and
Communicator.

Sensory, Inc., the leader in speech technologies for consumer products, today announced the release of the NLP-5x speech chip, ushering in a new era of natural language and hands-free interfaces for low-cost consumer products.
“Sensorys New NLP-5x chip is the first low-cost speech chip to offer a natural language interface,” said Todd Mozer, CEO of Sensory. “The chip provides an easy-to-use, Truly Hands-Free experience for consumers. Manufacturers of home appliances, toys, cars, and personal electronics want to make the user experience more friendly with a very flexible speech interface, and the NLP-5x is designed precisely for this purpose.”
According to Dr. William Meisel, editor of Speech Strategy News, “As consumer products add features, they become harder to use. The new Sensory chip in effect makes it cost-effective to make the user manual simply say what you want it to do. It presents an opportunity for manufacturers to make their new features more than a bullet item on the sales package.”
Now people can voice control products without pre-scripted phrases or button presses. Key to the NLP-5x technology suite is its ability to understand natural language within a constrained environment, and to “wake-up” from a hands-free voice trigger.
As an example of what NLP-5x can do, imagine a person setting an ovens temperature by voice. The person could say “Bake at 375 for 1 hour” or “Bake for 1 hour at 375 degrees,” giving the user the flexibility of order independence.

WHEREVER I went last week for a bite to eat I seemed to bump into a celebrity. Nicky Hilton sat next to me one day at the Fred Segal caf, while Geri Halliwells former movie producer lover Sacha Gervasi (and the father of Geris baby Bluebell) brought along an extremely attractive girl to eat on the other side of me. Then I was alongside Groundhog Day star Bill Murray at Cecconis the day before. KENDRA Wilkinson seems like a sensible lass. The former girlfriend of Hugh Hefner whose reality show Kendra is on E! Entertainment, says she doesnt want her newborn son Hank growing up in front of the cameras. She told me: “People already ask if I think hes going to be a sports star like my husband or an actor or something. I want him to decide what he wants to be. The reality show will stop – I dont want him growing up for everyone to see.”
Dear Dr Cath, MY mate is very cut up after being ditched by his girlfriend. He told me he is thinking of putting a video of himself having kinky sex with her on the internet as revenge if she doesnt take him back. My wife knows his ex and says theres no hope of reconciliation. I feel I should warn her about the video but dont want to betray my friend. Dear reader, ITS completely out of order to put this video on the internet. You need to trust your lover if youre going to make a movie with them – and trust them not to misuse it if you break up.

A DRIVER died yesterday when his car was hit by a train at a level crossing. It is thought he deliberately stopped as the barriers were coming down. The train hit the car and dragged it under the wheels. An emergency service source said: “Everybody at the scene is leaning towards this being a deliberate act rather than a horrible accident.” Neighbours in Wokingham, Berkshire, described hearing a loud noise as the train slammed into the car.
A PARKED car with two girls inside exploded in flames early yesterday when one of them lit a cigarette. The pair, aged 19 and 20 years, suffered severe burns to their hands and faces as they escaped from the blazing vehicle. It is believed their Ford Fiesta had a ruptured fuel line and when one of lit up it caused leaking fumes to ignite.

According to the February 2010 ComScore Report, Good Health Media (GHM) tops the charts for percentage growth among health ad networks, a group that includes such networks as AdRX, Healthline and Everyday Health. GHM audience is up 93% over a year ago — to 32 million unique visitors monthly — due to growth in consumers appetite for sophisticated, condition-specific information on niche sites. Advertisers have followed, as the company announced a 56% growth in ad volume for Q409. GHM signed significant ad deals with Wal-Mart Pharmacy, Shire, and Sanofi Aventis, and continued support from JJ, Merck, Pfizer and Wyeth, among others.
One factor driving the ad gains: a precise targeting capability GHM calls ConditionMatch, which profiles “in-market” consumers (people searching for specific medical and wellness information). GHM delivers three primary audience channels: Consumer Medical, Consumer Wellness, and Healthcare Professionals. The Medical Channel delivers condition-specific audiences (e.g., allergy, diabetes, depression); Wellness bridges a marketplace gap by combining fitness and nutrition sites; and HCP aggregates professional website audiences.
“Pharma and CPG brands want condition specific-audiences of scale,” said Bill Jennings, CEO of Good Health Media. “Our site partners attract more a more frequent, loyal audience than broader health destinations online. Were able to reach people who are actively seeking specific information on partner sites and across the Internet. Thats the ideal platform.”

In todays challenging economy, businesses are looking for an advantage to help them pull out of the recession and avoid losses, layoffs, or worse. Companies are focusing on a single task — increasing sales. To help businesses learn how to quickly implement powerhouse direct mail marketing campaigns proven to sell, Modern Postcard is providing an exclusive opportunity to learn the tools, tricks and techniques behind capturing better leads for new customers and driving increased revenues. The Direct Mail Crash Course , a national seminar series, will be presented in conjunction with the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) where attendees will receive new and proven strategies to increase business leads and revenues.
Direct mail is one of the most effective types of advertising a business can do today. According to the Mail Moment research gathered by the USPS, 98 percent of consumers bring in the mail the day it is delivered; and according to the Direct Marketing Association, direct marketing yields an average return on investment of over 1100 percent based on the lifetime value of a new customer. Attendees will learn how to make these numbers a reality in their own marketing.
With the new technologies available in direct marketing, todays smart marketers are learning how to better integrate new media and social media marketing, including Facebook, Twitter and other social networks, with traditional mass media, print and direct mail campaigns to maximize the effectiveness of their advertising dollars. Lead generation and customer acquisition is one of the most coveted aspects of marketing, but it must be successfully targeted to the right customers. Direct marketing can bring a company excellent results — quality lead generation for increased sales and revenues.
These unique seminars will include a complete buffet breakfast and commence in San Jose with additional stops in San Francisco and Sacramento as follows:
According to the U.S. Postal Services Household Diary study released in August 2009 advertising mail spending was at $59.7 billion in 2008, accounting for 22 percent of all advertising spending and ranked only below television.
Those presenting include a group of top direct mail experts with over 50 years of combined experience in the direct marketing industry. Keith Goodman is a 20-year direct marketing veteran who has helped companies such as IBM, Hughes and Amway increase their direct mail profitability and achieve greater return on investment for their marketing dollars. Dan Anglin, a list development expert, has 10 years of data experience and has worked with Fortune 500 firms such as Microsoft, AOL and Time Warner. Arnie Cohen has assisted businesses in effectively executing mailings for 23 years and will focus on improving mail delivery and reducing postage costs. Cohen is active in various industry groups and heavily involved with new U.S. Postal Service technological advances.
“Marketers often do not realize how critical data is to the success of their direct mail campaigns,” said Dan Anglin, a seminar co-presenter, “and there are so many new data products available on the market that it is hard to understand when to use the different solutions. We walk the attendees through everything they need to know to tackle even complex projects such as modeling their existing database to identify prospects that most resemble their best existing customers.
There will be a special presentation from the USPS that will also provide attendees with insight into what the postal service can do to help local businesses with their mailing and shipping needs.

MARANA, Ariz. — The trophy Ian Poulter is taking home from the Match Play Championship is called the “Walter Hagen Cup.” For his first victory on American soil, perhaps thats only fitting. Hagen, among golfs greatest players with 11 majors, was regarded as much for his snappy attire as his record four straight PGA Championships when they were match play. The Haig would have liked this spunky Englishman.

TIGHTER rules to control Britains booming Botox industry will be unveiled this week. Health Minister Mike OBrien has agreed the new regulations with the cosmetics industry to protect patients from unscrupulous “Botox bandit” operators. At present, there are no rules governing firms providing the injections – which reduce facial lines and crows feet – or lip- filling treatments. People also run the risk of infection through equipment which has not been properly sterilised.
PEOPLE planning on having Botox and other facial treatments will be able to check the credibility of their clinic under a new Government-backed scheme. Individual practitioners and entire organisations are being invited to apply for an industry “seal of approval” on safety and quality.

BROKE Ireland is bailing out the International Monetary Fund, the Irish Sunday Mirror can reveal. Finance Minister Brian Lenihan agreed to give the IMF EUR2BILLION even though the country is in enormous debt. And he intends to bring in a special law to allow him to hand over the money. The Government is lending them the money in order to ensure that we can borrow EUR1.3billion BACK from them if our economy worsens further.
Brownstone Ventures Inc. (TSX VENTURE: BWN) (”Brownstone”), announced today that it is proposing to complete a non-brokered financing on a best efforts basis of up to 10,000,000 units (the “Units”) at a price of $0.55 per Unit for aggregate gross proceeds of a minimum of $5,500,000.
Each Unit will consist of one common share in the capital of Brownstone and one-half of one common share purchase warrant of Brownstone. Each whole common share purchase warrant will entitle the holder to purchase one common share of Brownstone at any time within 24 months (the “Warrant Term”) after the closing date of the financing at an exercise price of $0.75 per share. If, following the expiry of the four month hold period, the closing price of Brownstones common shares exceeds $1.25 for 20 consecutive business days, then the Warrant Term shall be automatically reduced and the share purchase warrants will expire on the date that is 30 days following the issuance of a press release announcing the reduced Warrant Term.
Although the financing is non-brokered, Brownstone may pay a commission to agents that arrange for the sale of units equal to 7% of the gross proceeds raised under the private placement and that number of warrants (the “Agents Warrants”) equal to 8% of the number of Units sold under the private placement. Each Agents Warrant will be exercisable for one Unit at a price of $0.55 per Unit for a period of twenty-four months from closing.
Closing of the private placement is subject to receipt of all necessary regulatory approvals. The securities issued will have a hold period expiring four months and one day from the date of closing. Proceeds from the sale of the Units will be used for general corporate purposes.
Up to 25% of the financing may be purchased by insiders of Brownstone.

Shift Reflects NCC’s Position as a Broad-Based Media Sales,
Marketing and Technology Company
NEW YORK — National Cable Communications (NCC) has re-cast itself as NCC Media, it
was announced today by Greg Schaefer, the organization’s President and
CEO. This change reflects the wide range of media services the company
provides to the advertising industry, whether delivered by cable,
telecom, satellite or interactive platforms.
“NCC Media has evolved from selling spots on cable systems twenty years
ago, to today providing arguably the widest array of linear and digital
ad products in the industry. Our corporate identity now more accurately
reflects the true scope and scale of our dynamic company,” said
Schaefer. “Today’s market requires a versatile, more nimble approach to
advertising sales. Our clients have seen and will continue to see an
ever-broadening range of advertising services available to them,
particularly from our owners, affiliates and partners.”
While NCC was founded as a sales rep company for major cable providers,
the company, jointly owned by three of the nation’s largest cable system
operators – Comcast, Cox Communications and Time Warner Cable, now
represents virtually every other multi-channel TV service provider in
the country, reaching an estimated 98% of all multi- channel homes. It
has further expanded its client base to include satellite, telco,
interactive TV and internet properties.
NCC is also on the cutting edge of technologies which provide innovative
new means of advertising, making it possible to precisely target
consumers by category, media habits, market, city, and even by
neighborhood. NCC Media’s proprietary research and analysis capabilities
make it possible for them to recommend networks, programs, marketing
platforms and digital media extensions that are the best fit for client
brand positioning.

After years of keeping great online slots such as Sunset Dreams and Maxamillion a secret for UK players only, with great success demonstrated by their recent Hitwise award, the surge in demand over the past few months from other European players looking for high quality, high reward slots has finally led Quicksilver to reveal their secret to the World.
Quicksilver Games has added multiple payment platforms and currency options to web.quicksilvergames.co.uk, potentially allowing millions more players to join UK gamers in enjoying the range of bingo, slots, casino and fruit machine games on offer and vastly expand the businesses global reach in the process.
Quicksilver Games are currently playable by approximately 49,000,000 adults in the United Kingdom alone and the planned expansion of playable currencies and methods of payment are set to expand the number of gamers by up to 420,000,000. This could mean an increase in people playing games like Maxamillion and Kasharoo by almost tenfold.
The imminent expansion of payment methods will include not only being able to play using Euros and Dollars (though the site is not eligible for play in America) for the first time but online gamers will also be able to use Netseller, Moneybookers and Ucash to make deposits with which to play great games like Slots and Bingo.
Traditionally, Quicksilver Gamers have been able to make deposits only using Mastercard, Maestro, and Visa while playing games such as Maxamillion Race for Riches . These developments mean there will be a greater variety of methods to pay, enabling gaming fans more options on how they pay to play. It is worth remembering that you can also play the majority of Quicksilver Games for free.
Walter Smith last night spoke of his concerns that the ongoing controversy over refereeing decisions is starting to spiral out of control. The Rangers manager was responding to criticism of referee Charlie Richmond by St Mirren manager Gus MacPherson for his decision not to punish Rangers captain David Weir for tugging Michael Higdons jersey during the early stages of yesterdays 3-1 victory over the Paisley side. “Everyone wants people to get ordered off, everybody wants penalties against us, everybody wants everything against us,” Smith said. “I dont know what road we are going down in that respect. We seem to be reaching a ridiculous stage where refereeing decisions actually become far more important than the game itself.
The portents were not promising for Partick Thistle ahead of this trip to Palmerston, given that the Glasgow side had neither tasted victory at Queen of the South since December 2007, nor gotten the better of Gordon Chisholms side in the previous five encounters. Thistle dominated this encounter to such an extent that they pinned the home side in their own half for large periods, but in keeping with many of their matches this season, were unable to cash in and were undone by a set-piece header from Stewart Kean in the second half. Keans superb header from Bob Harris corner left Jonny Tuffey with no chance in the Thistle goal. The Maryhill sides hopes of promotion could now be similarly described.

LEICESTER 35 LONDON IRISH 19 TOBY FLOODS hopes of ripping the No10 jersey off Jonny Wilkinsons back were dealt a blow at Welford Road. The Tigers star sustained an injury during this comprehensive win over Irish – ruining his latest chance to shine in front of Martin Johnson. The England Team Manager looked on as Flood sat with his head in his hands in the dugout, despairing at his unfortunate latest injury setback. He had taken an off-the-ball blow in the first half, and finally withdrew after the break unable to continue. Tigers scored four tries to increase their lead over Northampton at the top of the Guinness Premiership.
FARGO, N.D. — Salesmen in Fargo are hawking products with names like the Muscle Wall and the Sandbagging Buddy. Emergency workers in Keokuk, Iowa, are planning to barricade the water treatment plant with limestone boulders. The farmers cooperative in Quincy, Ill., is moving grain inland to keep it dry. Spring could bring disastrous flooding again to the Upper Midwest, government forecasters are warning. And folks along the Red, the Mississippi and the Missouri rivers are taking precautions, especially after calamities last year and the year before. The National Weather Service said heavy snow cover and ground that is already saturated could lead to severe flooding in as little as a few weeks. Exactly how severe will depend on how fast the snow melts and how heavy the spring rains are. In Fargo and neighboring Moorhead, Minn., an area of about 200,000 people, the chances of major flooding were projected Friday at about 90 percent. The probability of record flooding was put at 19 percent. Elsewhere across the Upper Midwest, the threat is less dire but still serious.

The GreenDOC Product Guide is the industrys comprehensive listing of products and services that green dental offices need to go green and stay green. The EDA has sourced the products and services that share a vision for clean, green dentistry, making it easy for dental professionals to achieve earth friendly initiatives. Products and services appear in one or more of the following GreenDOC categories: Sustainable Location; Waste Reduction; Pollution Prevention; Energy Conservation; Water Conservation; Patient Care, Workplace Policies, and Community Contribution; Leadership, and Innovation.
Combined, the GreenDOC Product Guide and GreenDOC Checklist provide dentists with the first key steps to greening their dental practice. “Where do I start, and what products do I use? NATICK, Mass. — National Dentex Corporation (NASDAQ: NADX), one of the largest
owner/operators of dental laboratories in the United States, today
announced its results for the fourth quarter and year ended December 31,
2009. For the full year ended December 31, 2009, National Dentex
reported sales of $161,195,000, a 6.1% decline from reported sales of
$171,674,000 for the same period in 2008. Net income for 2009 increased
to $5,877,000, or $1.02 per diluted share, from a net loss of $877,000,
or a $.16 loss per diluted share, for fiscal 2008. Non-GAAP net income
was $6,141,000 for fiscal 2009, or $1.07 per diluted share, compared to
$5,240,000 for fiscal 2008, or $.93 per diluted share. Non-GAAP net
income excludes non-cash goodwill impairment charges, including the tax
effect. National Dentex recorded non-cash goodwill impairment charges of
$6,950,000 in the fourth quarter of 2008 and $264,000 in the third
quarter of 2009. These charges were taken with respect to certain
laboratories in connection with management’s assessment of goodwill on
its balance sheet and did not affect the Company’s cash flow. A
reconciliation of Non-GAAP net income to net income is included at the
end of this press release.
For the fourth quarter of 2009, National Dentex reported sales of
$38,174,000, which was 7.5% lower than the fourth quarter sales in 2008
of $41,264,000. Net income for the quarter was $429,000, or $.07 per
diluted share, compared to a net loss of $5,286,000, or a loss of $.93
per diluted share in 2008. Non-GAAP net income was $429,000, or $.07 per
diluted share, for the fourth quarter of 2009 compared to $831,000, or
$.15 per diluted share, for the same period in 2008. The difference is
primarily attributable to a tax credit related to research activities
from tax year 2002, recorded in the fourth quarter of 2008 as a result
of the expiration of the final statute of limitations for IRS
modification. The after tax effect on net income in the fourth quarter
of 2008 for this item was $468,000, or $.08 per diluted share.
Commenting on today’s announcement, David Brown, Chairman and CEO,
stated: “As a result of a very difficult consumer market, 2009 has been
a challenging year for the dental laboratory industry. While we are
beginning to see improving trends, we continue to feel the effects of
the industry-wide slowdown in revenues brought on by a decline in
discretionary consumer spending. In response, we have made great strides
in controlling our production and operating costs, in particular our
labor and related payroll expenses. As a result, we have improved
profitability in 2009. In addition, we have continued to make advances
with newer technologies that we believe will enhance our competitive
advantages in the future.”

More than 40 percent of baby boomers who have a living parent are helping with their care.* Whether health or financial problems, or literally “giving back,” millions of adults are assisting their parents with monetary support. Many also are raising children or supporting their Generation Y children, making them part of the sandwich generation.
The sandwich generation may find relief in the form of tax breaks. The $3,650 qualifying relative exemption can help buffer expenses related with supporting parents. Non-relative qualifying dependents also may allow supporters to claim expenses associated with their care. The eligible expenses include food, lodging, clothing, education, medical and dental care, recreation and transportation.
These are the dependent qualifications for claiming adults:
“These tax breaks can be especially welcome benefits for those raising children while supporting their parents,” said Amy McAnarney, executive director of The Tax Institute at HR Block (NYSE: HRB).

GORDON Brown yesterday signalled the end of the road for Snatch Land Rovers which have been blamed for the deaths of 36 British soldiers. After he flew into Afghanistan, the PMs officials confirmed plans to replace the lightly-armoured vehicles with more heavily protected models. The move comes amid fresh concerns over the deaths of Cpl Sarah Bryant, 26, Cpl Sean Reeve, 28, L/Cpl Richard Larkin, 39, and Pte Paul Stout, 31 when their Snatch Land Rover was blown up by a roadside bomb in June 2008. Defence Secretary Bob Ainsworth will now make an announcement “imminently” about the first 200 new Light Protected Patrol Vehicles. They will offer troops “far greater protection”, said a Downing Street source.

OffThe Rails RTE One – Wednesday, 8pm HARD though it seems to believe now, a few years ago we Irish were not a fashionable race. These days we may all know our Penneys from our Prada, but back then – and it wasnt that long ago (I have the horrendous photos to prove it) – a flat cap and a jumper with three big diamonds on it was considered acceptable menswear. Nowadays, two-top wardrobes and flatcaps are all but forgotten, and we have so much choice were practically drowning in it. Which is where the good ship Off The Rails comes in, ably crewed by captain Sonya and first mate Brendan, ready to throw us a lifeline and rescue us from the sea of fashion. Okay, so I took that past metaphor a little too far, but you get the point. This week the fab fashionitas explain how to do underwear as outwear, a trend thats very easy to get wrong, and very hard to explain to the gardai afterwards.

SO the country had come to a standstill with the snow and we all had cabin fever. I wanted comfort, heating and not to cook, while the kids wanted noise and lots of fun. A few train delays later we arrived in Bognor Regis on the South Coast for our stay at Butlins new flagship Ocean Hotel. Men can also enjoy a spot of pampering with treatments including the Sporting Highlights Massage (pounds 29) – a Premier League deep- tissue rub-down while watching sports – sounds like bloke-heaven. And hormonal teens are not left out with spa offerings such as the Marshmallow Medley facial (pounds 29) or a Girlie Hands manicure (pounds 15). The Ocean opened last August, to complement the existing (and excellent) Shoreline Hotel at the resort, and with bookings going up each year its clear the pounds 20million investment has paid off. This modern day Ocean feels like a classic already and the dcor and service is firstclass.

NEW legislation designed to help the UK meet its carbon reduction targets has already deterred multi-million-pound investment in one of Scotlands key strategic industries of the future, supporters of a major datacentre development have said. Internet Villages International (IVI) and APC Schneider are currently promoting the Ecclefechan site through the planning process. Spokesmen for the two firms said that the company involved – which has been heavily courted by Enterprise Minister Jim Mather and senior Scottish Development International officials – now intends to locate its data storage operations in the Republic of Ireland and the Netherlands. Terry Hurley, Scottish Enterprises senior director of tech media, said: “If it is true, its very disappointing.” Promoters of the Ecclefechan plan claim the scheme will provide a major strategic boost to a key industry of the future. As well as giving a critical boost to Scotland as an internationally- recognised location for datastorage and potentially job-creating “cloud computing”.

Lattice Semiconductor Corporation (NASDAQ: LSCC) today announced that it has shipped over 200 million ispMACH® 4000 complex programmable logic devices (CPLD). The Lattice ispMACH 4000 CPLD family provides a variety of design solutions, from glue logic and general purpose I/O expansion to voltage level translation and LED drivers. Engineers around the globe have widely adopted the ispMACH 4000 CPLD as a standard due to its balance of price, power and packaging options.
“Congratulations to Lattice Semiconductor on this significant business achievement in shipping over 200 million units of the ispMACH 4000 CPLD family. Samsung uses the ispMACH 4000 devices in Mobile WiMAX projects because Lattice has consistently met our standards for quality, delivery and price,” said Seung Gu Kang, Vice President, H/W Group Telecommunication Network Business, Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. “I appreciate Lattice Semiconductor as a supplier because Samsung has become considerably more competitive in the market by virtue of their devices. I expect Lattice to continue to strongly support Samsung with the best device quality and price for us to strengthen our worldwide market share in the future.”
CPLDs continue to be a popular alternative to discrete digital logic, given the flexible nature of in-system programmable logic and I/O buffers that support a variety of signal standards and voltage levels. Compared to FPGAs, CPLDs offer the advantages of low cost solutions with predictable and very fast timing characteristics. With tiny packages down to 4×4mm, static power consumption down to 10uA and prices starting as low as $0.50, the ispMACH 4000ZE CPLD family is an ideal design solution for battery-powered or low standby power devices such as smartphones, portable GPS products and home appliances like digital set-top-boxes.
“The ispMACH 4000ZE CPLD family offers customers a low price, low power solution that continues to be used at an accelerating rate by both consumer and system focused customers,” said Chris Fanning, Lattice Corporate Vice President and General Manager of Low Density and Mixed Signal Solutions. “Shipping over 200 million ispMACH 4000 CPLDs is an important milestone for both Lattice and the programmable logic industry, because it demonstrates the value CPLDs offer to a myriad of digital system designs. Its important as well to customers, who demand immediate availability and reliability from their supply chain partners.”

BRITISH Gas is threatening to axe 5,000 jobs and two call centres, unions said last night. The energy giant, under fire for a record pounds 595million profit on the back of crippling winter fuel bills, has secret plans to slash the number of back office staff, they revealed. In a new blow to their 17.5 million customers battered by high heating costs in the worst winter for 30 years, British Gas are facing a possible strike. The GMB, the companys largest union with 10,000 members, are sending out ballot papers on action this weekend. Sites at risk include Stockport, Leicester, Cardiff, Southampton and Edinburgh. GMB general secretary Paul Kenny said: “British Gas has turned from being a reasonable employer where people had job satisfaction into one with a culture of bullying and making profits at all costs.”
PLANS for a new gas-fired power station have run into opposition from environmental groups concerned about the pollution it will produce. Spanish-owned Scottish Power want to replace the coal plant at Cockenzie near Edinburgh with a cleaner gas plant. But the plant will still emit millions of tonnes of the greenhouse gas carbon dioxide, and could end up wasting vast amounts of heat. “This proposal is just not good enough to be built in Scotland,” said Dr Richard Dixon, the director of WWF Scotland. “With our tough climate targets we cannot afford to be locking ourselves in to new power stations that will be major carbon emitters.” He said the Cockenzie gas plant would waste enough heat to continuously boil a quarter of a million kettles. Ministers should force Scottish Power to make use of the heat by piping it to nearby communities, he argued.

Its all about people.” Yerkovich made his retirement decision official when he informed his players after school on Tuesday, but hes not done coaching them just yet.

The Canadian Healthcare Association (CHA) acknowledges the difficult decisions faced by Government in crafting todays budget.
“Canada is still facing tough economic times,” said Pamela Fralick, President and CEO, Canadian Healthcare Association, “and it is tempting to make cuts.”
The governments announcement that the transfer payments to provinces and territories will be maintained is reassuring. Furthermore, this confirmation of its earlier commitment has been strengthened with a one-time payment to six provinces of $525 million, to ensure they do not face a decline in entitlements under health and social transfers, as well as equalization, a move that is welcomed by all. Our expectations are raised that this commitment to the conditions and spirit of the 2004 Accord will be maintained throughout the coming years.
Releasing the funds allocated to Canada Health Infoway in Budget 2009 is the right thing to do. This investment is pivotal to a sustainable, efficient, effective and safe health system.
Some initiatives fell short of our expectations.

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. — American HomePatient, Inc. (OTCBB: AHOM), one of the nation’s largest
home health care providers, today announced its financial results for
the fourth quarter and year ended December 31, 2009.
Revenues for the fourth quarter of 2009 were $61.3 million compared to
$67.8 million for the fourth quarter of 2008, representing a decrease of
$6.5 million, or 9.6%. Revenues for the year ended December 31, 2009
were $236.3 million compared to $266.9 million for the same period in
2008, representing a decrease of $30.6 million, or 11.5%. Medicare
reimbursement reductions effective January 1, 2009 reduced revenues by
approximately $6.5 million in the fourth quarter of 2009 and $27.4
million for the year ended December 31, 2009. Further reductions in
revenues in 2009 resulted from the impact of Medicare policy changes
related to coverage guidelines for positive airway pressure devices, a
change in inhalation drug product mix resulting from Medicare
reimbursement reductions, and the Company’s reduced emphasis on less
profitable product lines such as non-respiratory durable medical
equipment and infusion therapy. These revenue decreases were partially
offset by growth in sleep therapy revenue.
Operating expenses declined in the fourth quarter of 2009 compared to
the fourth quarter of 2008 by approximately $1.6 million, or 4.9%.
Operating expenses for the year ended December 31, 2009 compared to the
same period in 2008 declined by $8.0 million, or 6.0%. The decreases in
operating expenses for the fourth quarter and year ended December 31,
2009 were primarily the result of improved operating efficiencies and
the resulting reduced operating costs, partially offset by increases in
certain expenses associated with the development and implementation of
initiatives designed to provide additional productivity improvements.
Areas of focus have included centralization of branch functions,
consolidation of branches, improved routing and delivery systems, and
more effective utilization of leased space.
Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA)
is a non-GAAP financial measurement that is calculated as net income
excluding interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization. Adjusted
EBITDA (EBITDA excluding discontinued operations and debt restructuring
expenses) was $9.4 million, or 15.3% of net revenue, for the fourth
quarter of 2009 compared to $14.2 million, or 20.9 % of net revenue, for
the same period of 2008. Adjusted EBITDA was $32.7 million, or 13.8% of
net revenue, for the year ended December 31, 2009 compared to $51.6
million, or 19.3% of net revenue, for the same period of 2008.
Net loss for the fourth quarter of 2009 was $(1.2) million, or $(0.07)
per diluted share, compared to net income of $1.5 million, or $0.09 per
diluted share, for the fourth quarter of 2008. Net loss for the year
ended December 31, 2009 was $(13.1) million, or $(0.75) per diluted
share, compared to net income of $0.5 million, or $0.03 per diluted
share for the same period in 2008.

Weston’s Oldest Title Company Offers Title Insurance for the Purchase
of Foreclosed Properties, Reducing Some of the Risks from the Buying
Process and Maximizing Investment
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — Buying in the murky foreclosure waters is not quite as dangerous as
swimming with the sharks thanks to foreclosure title insurance, says
Attorney Roy Oppenheim.
More than 500,000 foreclosure filings entered Florida’s books in 2009,
and those properties now saturate the South Florida real estate market.
While these economic times are challenging for most, they can be the
best time for some South Floridians to capitalize on an unprecedented
opportunity who want to purchase foreclosures. Foreclosure buyers can
now add a perk to their deals with foreclosure title insurance.
While purchasing foreclosed properties at deep discounts sounds like an
enticing business proposition, ensuring the properties are free of
additional liens through foreclosure title insurance is now an added
layer of protection, according to Oppenheim, a South Florida real estate
attorney and legal blogger.
According to Weston Title, title insurance costs vary and are based on a
set formula mandated by the State of Florida. As an example, a $100,000
foreclosure sale costs approximately $700 to insure, while a $500,000
sale is approximately $2250.

As of March 3, 2010 the USD/GBP exchange was 1.50613 to 1, with the pound sliding nearly 8% against the U.S. dollar since January 1st, 2010. The pounds downward momentum makes around the world fares originated in the U.K. up to 23% less expensive for Australian, Canadian, or U.S. originated travelers.
The One World Alliance sells its 3 Continent business class around the world fare for US$8,600 plus taxes for departures from the U.S. The same itinerary originating in the U.K. sells for GBP4,799. Based on current exchange rates, this equates to US$7,223. U.S. travelers considering around the world travel will receive greater value by purchasing a one way ticket to the United Kingdom and then starting their around the world itinerary from London using the lower U.K. fare level.
In addition to lower costs, U.S. based travelers purchasing a U.K. originated around the world ticket benefit from more lenient fare rules. The One World Alliance maintains a 7 day advance purchase requirement for North American departures, but has no specific advance purchase requirement for European originations. U.S. based travelers can also benefit from up to six bonus flight segments within North America between international trips and a bonus ticket back to the U.K. for future use.
The Star Alliance 29,000 mile business class fare (known as STAR1) originated in the U.K. sells for GBP 4,964 or US$7,440. The same around the world ticket originated in the U.S. starts at $9,564, making the U.K. 23% less expensive compared to the U.S. fare level. Australian, Canadian, and U.S. based travelers will also find savings by originating their around the world tickets in the Euro zone, where the STAR1 fare starts at EUR 5,675/USD 7,695, a 19% savings compared to the U.S. fare level.

OLDWICK, N.J. — A.M. Best Co. has revised the outlook to stable from negative and
affirmed the financial strength rating (FSR) of A (Superior) and issuer
credit rating (ICR) of “aa-” of American Fidelity Assurance Company (American
Fidelity). A.M. Best also has revised the outlook to stable from
negative and affirmed the FSR of A- (Excellent) and ICR of “a-” of American
Public Life Insurance Company (American Public). Both companies are
subsidiaries of American Fidelity Corporation (AFC). All companies are
domiciled in Oklahoma City, OK.
American Fidelity’s revised outlook reflects its favorable operating
results and improved risk-adjusted capital position. Additionally, the
company has made considerable progress in lowering its expense ratio in
recent years, which has been relatively high historically. The rating
affirmations also reflect the company’s well established niche in the
voluntary education market. American Public’s revised outlook recognizes
its return to profitability and improved capitalization position.
A.M. Best remains somewhat concerned with the organization’s sizeable
exposure to real estate-related investments. However, American
Fidelity’s commercial mortgage loan portfolio has continued to perform
well despite the weak U.S. economy. Additionally, an affiliated offshore
insurance company tied to American Fidelity’s international life
insurance business incurred a large loss in 2009. In response to this,
American Fidelity has taken steps to improve operating results in this
segment, going forward.
OLDWICK, N.J. — A.M. Best Co. has revised the outlook to positive from stable and
affirmed the issuer credit rating of “bbb” and affirmed the financial
strength rating (FSR) of B (Good) of Starmount Life Insurance
Company (Starmount Life) (Baton Rouge, LA). The outlook for
the FSR is stable.
The revised outlook reflects Starmount Life’s positive premium and
underwriting income growth despite the weak economy and its ongoing
diversification efforts. The company continues to produce favorable
growth in annualized premium for its core vision and dental insurance
products. Through more active marketing, expanded sales force and
additional distribution outlets, Starmount Life continues to expand its
geographic reach.
While A.M. Best notes that Starmount Life’s new business writings have
good geographical diversity, a large portion of its inforce dental and
vision business is still located in Louisiana and Mississippi. In
addition, Starmount Life’s direct premium growth has slowed due to its
reinsurance partnerships; although, those arrangements have enabled the
company to capture larger opportunities.

Time at Marine Corps Marathon
WASHINGTON — Massage Envy® has officially been awarded the new Guinness
World Record for the most people being massaged simultaneously
in one location. Massage Envy, the nation’s largest provider of
therapeutic massage, received its official letter and certificate from
The Guinness Book of World Records in late February, for its
record-breaking event at the 2009 Marine Corps Marathon (MCM).
On October 25th of 2009, 167 people were simultaneously
massaged at 11:45 a.m., just as they finished participating in the 34th
annual Marine Corps Marathon. The company set up a sea of tables at the
marathon’s Finish Festival in Rosslyn, Virginia, and collected hundreds
of massage therapists from all over the area for the event. The previous
world record for the most people being massaged at the same time was
154, set in London, England in 2007.
“We’re thrilled that Massage Envy now officially holds the new world
record,” said Regional Developer Eric Barton. He added that, “massage is
becoming more and more popular as a way to not only relax, but improve
health by lowering blood pressure and boosting the immune system. We’re
happy to have given that to the race participants, and we’re happy to
share this world-wide honor with the local community.”
“The Marine Corps Marathon is a world class event so it only makes sense
that it would host the world record effort by Massage Envy,” said Rick
Nealis, MCM Director. “Massage Envy has done an amazing job over the
past several years providing massage recovery service to thousands of
MCM runners in the Finish Festival.”

Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport is making it easier to travel with children by installing Step n Wash in all 72 public restrooms throughout the facility.
Step n Wash units are self-retracting steps, secured permanently beneath restroom sink counters. They enable the Airports smallest customers to wash their hands independently and prevent the often-awkward process of parents lifting children up to the sinks.
In addition to promoting a healthier lifestyle, Step n Wash reminds young travelers about the importance of properly sanitizing their hands.
When the project is complete, Hartsfield-Jackson will be the first major airport to install Step n Wash in every public restroom.
“Step n Wash will add a significant value for our passengers,” said Doug Strachan, Airport Innovations manager. “Parents who travel — especially those with more than one child — know the challenges that come with lifting a toddler up to the faucet, maintaining an eye on their luggage and keeping their bodies balanced. Step n Wash effectively eliminates any restrictions previously placed on parents or supervising adults.”

TV presenter Sarah Cawood says she felt bullied and intimidated by the charity boss who sparked the Downing Street bullying row. Sarah, a former patron of the National Bullying Helpline, says Christine Pratt left her in tears after accusing her of failing the charity. “She was really pushy and I felt bullied,” said Sarah, a former Top of the Pops presenter and The Wright Stuff panellist. As a victim of childhood bullying, Sarah agreed to lend her name to the helpline last August. But Sarah saw another side of Mrs Pratt five months ago when she had to cancel a charity appearance where she was due to present a man of the match award at an ice hockey game in Swindon, Wilts, where the helpline is based.
It is not just the revelations about Gordon Browns bullying behaviour towards his staff which mark him out as a failed leader; it is his hypocrisy. No government in history has committed itself so firmly to standing up for suffering employees and, as Rod Liddle points out on page 19, this noble aim has often resulted in overbearing legislation. We have had employment acts which make it an offence for a boss not to make allowance for peoples desire to pray at work, and laws which forbid firms from advertising for a postboy on the grounds that it might discriminate against women and older people. We have had anti-bullying helplines and whistleblower schemes. Employers found by a tribunal to have failed to stop bullying face huge compensation payouts. And there is more to come: the government has made a priority before this parliament is out of passing Harriet Harmans Equality Bill, which will place onerous new demands on employers; requiring them, for example, to carry out equal pay audits to prove that they are not inadvertently discriminating against staff. Yet for all this bossiness about bullying, the PM himself appears to see no reason to treat his own staff with respect. This weeks nondenial denials about his behaviour merely draw attention to the allegations which have not been refuted: the foul-mouthed shouting and the claim that he removed a secretary from her chair and took over at the keyboard because he considered she wasnt typing fast enough. Browns inability to control himself in the office is worrying not just because it reflects badly on his character, but because it is symptomatic of a wider loss of control – not least of the public finances. But Browns reported rages are not just the result of frustration in the dying days of his government. Gordon Brown has been a bully throughout his career, indeed its the secret of his political success. When he realised that he would not beat Tony Blair for the Labour leadership after the death of John Smith in 1994 he began a 13-year war of attrition against his rival. When finally he succeeded in driving Blair into retirement he made sure, using threats and intimidation, that he would face no opponents in the succession. He must know that he is himself now guilty of the same charge of which he accused Tony Blair: remaining in No. 10 long after it should have become obvious that he is an electoral liability. The irony is lost on him.
CLARITY ABOVE CHARITY Hierarchy systems of intimidation, What does this give to our nation? Selfish greed leads to inflation, Artificial truth insemination. The pecking order of every town, Is maintained by bullying, top down, At the devils circus war makes peace a clown, Humans controlled by verb and noun.

TENS of thousands of council jobs in England could be at risk over the next five years as local authorities struggle with the fall-out from the recession, according to a survey published today. The survey suggested almost one in 10 of the workforce in some councils could be vulnerable as authorities are forced to cut back. It found that of the 49 councils which were prepared to answer questions about possible job cuts, they were estimating losses of 25,000 over the next three to five years out of a total combined workforce of 256,000. The Local Government Association (LGA) said councils had been hit by a “perfect storm” and had little choice but to shed jobs. “Sources of income have dropped sharply at a time when more and more people are turning to councils to help them through tough times,” said LGA chairman Dame Margaret Eaton.

Heres the perfect recipe to celebrate awards season: see the Asian silk jacket Meryl Streep wore while dining in a French cafe in “Julie Julia,” the white tuxedo Brad Pitt donned as he toasted Nazis in “Inglourious Basterds” and see the rugged jacket and jeans worn by Chris Pine as a young, rebellious James Kirk riding a motorcycle in “Star Trek.”
“Each studio contributed to this years exhibit which features items from some of the top contenders for Oscars, Golden Globes, guild and critics awards, including (500) Days of Summer, and The Young Victoria,” says museum president and founder Donelle Dadigan. “We are excited to feature items from both Best Actress nominees, Meryl Streeps from Julie and Julia and Sandra Bullocks from The Blind Side. We also have Brad Pitts costumes from the Best Picture Nominee Inglourious Basterds. Our exhibit also will include the years most popular films such Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen and Twilight: New Moon.”
“There is something for everyone of all ages at the Hollywood Museum. This is where you can discover the glamour of old Hollywood from Elvis to Marilyn Monroe and see costumes and red carpet fashion from Hollywoods rising stars from films like Twilight: New Moon,” states Dadigan.
Disney’s Mad Hatter Brings 3D Effect to Traditional Media Targeting
Influential Southern California Audiences
LOS ANGELES — The Los Angeles Times breaks new ground today, translating the
“homepage” take-over concept from the Web to print and deliver Disney’s
Mad Hatter to readers’s doorsteps, driveways and city street corners.
Timed to coincide with the release of the highly-anticipated “Alice in
Wonderland,” starring Johnny Depp, The Times is the only major newspaper
in the country to carry the innovative ad unit, conceived to launch the
film in the most creative and unexpected manner to Southern California’s
key movie-going audiences and creative community. The cover-wrap art
successfully conveys Depp’s Mad Hatter visage as a 3D image in a 2D
format and creates a powerful opening day impression.
“The Times is thrilled to work with Disney to create a truly exceptional
and distinctive way in which to let L.A. know ‘Alice in Wonderland’ is
now in theatres,” said John T. O’Loughlin, Executive Vice President,
Advertising and Chief Revenue Office. “We knew this was an unusual
opportunity to stretch traditional boundaries and deliver an innovative
ad unit designed to create buzz…and further extend the film’s brilliant
marketing campaign.”
